Everybody in the neighbourhood has something valuable to contribute to this garden and the CottonTree Community Garden is encouraging all local community members to be a part of it. Come to one of our meetings (held monthly on the third Wednesday of every month, become a friend of the garden and share your ideas or skills, nominate yourself for a committee position, propagate seedlings – there are lots of ways you can get involved:

About us

COTTON TREE COMMUNITY GARDEN
THE BEGINNINGS

The Cotton Tree Community Garden is situated in the grounds of the Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre.
Mark Ellis who is the Community Development Coordinator at the Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre had the idea to turn an otherwise empty space at the centre into a vibrant community garden.

In September 2009 Mark sort local community support for the garden project and within a week he had 43 Local people interested!

Mark was approached by Skill Centered to see if their Cert 11 Horticulture students could be involved. In February 2010,a group of young people built the garden beds as part of their certificate course.

In May 2010 Epic Disabilities and United synergies Get Set For Work Programs also got involved with the project by providing the amazing artwork on the garden beds and the murals on the fence.

The Cotton Tree Community Garden opened on the 26th of June 2010.

Enjoy the photos that follow which are from the beginning to the Open Day.
